I think, write, and talk about stories.

Stories of magic and technology. Stories of belief and doubt. Stories of career and vocation.

I'm a Ph.D. in English literature who has launched a post-academic career in corporate and foundation fundraising for educational institutions. My book, Genres of Doubt: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and the Victorian Crisis of Faith, was published in 2017 and has been nominated for the Mythopoetic Scholarship Award for Myth and Fantasy Studies. I love to think and talk about how fantasy and science fiction narratives help us voice concerns about belief and meaning, and how Ph.D.s can find fulfilling - and financially stable - careers outside of the academy.
